Our vision, health
and wholeness for the love of Christ, includes making affordable space available
to community based non-profit organizations. Listed below are the agencies that
are housed in the St. Stephen’s Community Center and annex.
Adult Basic Education
Adult Basic
Education serves the needs of adult learner’s age 16 or higher. ABE offers
English as a Second Language classes and GED classes. ABE is open for classes
Monday-Thursday from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. Please call

Domestic Violence Intervention Program
The Domestic
Violence Intervention Program (DVIP) offers educational group counseling for men
who have verbally, mentally or physically abused a woman in a relationship. The
DVIP works with trained facilitators to provide structured 36 session domestic
violence group that follows national standards. For more information, please

Grand Island Area Habitat for Humanity
Grand Island Area
Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit housing ministry serving qualifying,
low-income families. Through volunteer labor and the help of the families being
served, Habitat builds homes that are sold to the families at no profit and with
a no interest loan. Volunteers not only work on the homes, but also mentor
families, help with program administration, and assist with special functions.
The Habitat affiliate a participant in the Cans for Habitat program which helps
raise money to build homes through the recycling of donated aluminum cans. The
Habitat office is located in the St. Stephen's Community Center at

Heartland United

Literacy Council
The Literacy
Council of Grand Island is an “ALL VOLUNTEER” organization that promotes
literacy and provides resources and opportunities for individual to learn to
read, write and speak the English language. The Council recruits and trains
volunteers from many walks of life and they in turn provide FREE ONE-ON-ONE
TUTORING for anyone in
Hall
County
